What you are looking at
The first photo looks down the long back slope from the roof. Hip caps, the folded shingles that cover the outside corner where two slopes meet, climb the left edge. A silver gutter runs along the eave, with the screened pool cage at the far end.
Each Titan XT strip carries a scatter of tan, taupe, charcoal and warm brown granules. On the roof, under a hazy late August sky, the field reads gray-brown. From the front yard it looks warmer.
Photo two follows a cut valley, the trough where two slopes meet. Shingles from one side run through it, and the other side is trimmed in a straight line over them. Near the peak, a ridge vent shows its black mesh edge under the caps. Ridge vents let hot, damp attic air out along the peak, which helps in a Central Florida summer.
In photo three, caps lap down a diagonal hip with two black pipe vents above it. Photo four shows a short ridge between two hips with a ridge vent under its caps. A silver vent stack stands on the broad back slope in photo five.
Earlier job file photos show the layers underneath: synthetic underlayment held with red cap nails, drip edge along the eave, a new plywood patch where old decking was cut out, and a metal sleeve sealed around a plumbing vent. The driveway bundles read TAMKO Titan XT. No color name was readable on them.
Out front, a dark wood gable tops one wing, brown gutters line the eaves, and a screened porch shelters the entry.
