What you are looking at
The first frame was taken from the roof on a clear morning. A hip cap angles across the middle, and the courses on both sides run straight up to it. The shingle is a gray and tan blend with charcoal tabs mixed in.
The small parts are worth a look. Two low brown metal vents sit near the top of the slope, each with a slot under its hood where attic air can leave. Farther along are white vents with curved hoods and a gray metal pipe vent, each with shingles laid in around its base. A roof vent gives hot attic air a way out.
The second angle follows a hip from the peak down toward the eave. The cap shingles fold over the joint in one clean line, and the two white vents stand on the far slope. Past the roof edge are a hedge, young trees and a low brick wall.
The close frame shows the shingle texture. The tabs mix tan, gray and a darker blue-gray, and each one throws a thin shadow line onto the course below. The dark slot along the lower edge of the brown vent is its opening.
Two more frames show the roof against its surroundings: a slope climbing to a capped ridge beside a neighbor's stucco home, and a ridge running toward the street with a round dome set into the far slope. Earlier photos in the job file show the old shingles off and gray synthetic underlayment going down first. Those layers sit under the shingles, so this set sticks to the finished roof.
